This presentation was about the age old question surrounding measuring social media. Everyone wants to know how to measure social media. Here at Risdall we measure every online marketing effort we are involved with through analytics. If anyone says they can't measure social media efforts, then run from them.
Before we start any social media effort we sit down with the client and educate them on how important metrics are and work with them to establish what metrics matter.
When looking at your social media audience its not just about the numbers though, its about finding out who they are and what they represent. You need to really know your social media followers. The numbers do not matter, what matters is the influence those numbers represent. Deciding who's an influencer is about the social graph, not a single measure like their number of followers.
The future of marketing is stream marketing. How do you create compelling content or engagement with your audience to make it into their social streams and integrated into their social graphs? One to one marketing has been a buzz word for years, but we are not at a point where we can truly engage with customers and prospects on a one-to-one basis.
A lot people are making the mistake of using social media for instant ROI and don't realize that social media is about creating a relationship with your audience and the ROI will come. A good analogy is, did you marry your wife after 6 mins of meeting her? ROI of social media can take time and you need to be in it for the long-run.
@mollywood you need new devices.. Mine all switched#daylightsavings
