Maybe if I actually trained for it...

I haven't touched my TT bike in over 2 months and have not ran in 2 months. My new coach has be totally focused on cyclocross specific training.

So...I signed up for the World's largest duathlon two weeks ago because I new I was going to be in town. It's a fun race because it all happens downtown Minneapolis and on river road.

I really had no expectations, but wanted to test my fitness that has been growing in preparation for cyclocross season.

I was blown away by the results. I felt incredibly strong on the bike and held my own on the run. I was top 20 on the first 5K and new I could start reeling guys back on the 18 mile bike. I kept picking guys off on the bike and completely left it all out there and hit the last 5K run. I was definitely hurting on the 2nd run but knowing that I had made up a bunch of spots on the bike, I didn't want to loose that time.

I ended up 2nd in my age group and 7th overall in the world's biggest duathlon. There were over 1,500 entrants.

It's a nice going away present from Minneapolis.

I even shaved off over a minute of mine time from last year where I was focusing a to of time on the TT bike and running.
