Bend Stage Race

It's been awhile since I've done a stage race, but an excuse to go to Bend for the weekend with my wife was great. We've been to Bend the last 2 Januarys for cross natz, but never in the summer. We were blown away by how nice the weather was and how beautiful it was. We rented a great place through VRBO about 5 miles up the mountain toward Bachelor. Bend Summerfest was also going on in town, so there was live music everywhere.

The stage race was pretty uneventful with a crit Saturday, TT Saturday and road race Sunday. My best result was an 11th in the road race. The form is coming along slowly with trying to be fast for cyclocross, but I'm still able to hang and be competitive on the road.

Our view for the weekend

Thanks to VRBO for the great condo in Bend, OR

Tonight's Beer - Session Black Lager

Looks like a cola. Dark brown with reddish hues, huge tan head that fades fast. Nice carbonation and soapy lace.

The smell is roasty, coffee notes, some nutty hints and sweet caramel. Very bready with chocolate notes and earthy hops lingers in the back.

Very interesting taste. It starts out with sweet chocolate, caramels and some toffee. Hints of vanilla melt away to a nice mild cold coffee. Carbonation comes in and the whole thing cuts off dry with a lingering of earthy hops.

Rather thin, but full of flavor which is so impressive for such a thin, low alcohol session bee
